Father Paul Chipchase was born in Glossop, North Derbyshire in 1953. Educated at St. Mary's Primary Glossop, Xaverian College, Manchester and the Univerties of Exeter and Manchester. Fr. Paul worked in a variety of jobs for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council between 1974 and 1993 when he was accepted by Bishop McGuiness as a student for the Priesthood.

He studied in Rome at the Beda College and the Dominican University ("the Angelicum").

Father Paul was ordained priest in July 1997 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Charlesworth. His first Parish appointment was as assistant priest at St. Joseph's Leicester. In 1999 he moved to Holy Spirit West Bridgford and in 2001 was appointed Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lincoln.  After eight years Fr. Paul was appointed Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, Mickleover in Derby where he remained until 2015.  He was then appointed to St. Philip Neri, Mansfield.  After a relatively short time in Mansfield, Bishop Patrick McKinney appointed him Episcopal Vicar (Finance and Administration) for the Nottingham Diocese. His work at Willson House in the centre of Nottingham meant a move to Hucknall as Parish Priest of Holy Cross with easier access to the centre of Nottingham.

Father Paul's main leisure activities are sport, mostly cricket and these days as a spectator, walking, reading, theatre and opera.
